Christie Gunkel for Treasurer

Tags

,

Hello, I am Christie Gunkel and I grew up on a farm in Letcher, SD where I learned a good work ethic and self motivation.  I graduated high school in Woonsocket and then moved to Mitchell.  I have a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from DWU and an Associates Degree in Computers from MTI.  I am married to Jeremy Gunkel who has worked at Iversons for over 10 years.  We have two boys, Jalen and Gavin.  I believe in Pay it forward and Volunteering.  A few groups that I volunteer for are the March of Dimes, Jr. Achievement, and Mitchell Chamber Ambassadors Club.  I am running for Davison County Treasurer because I feel I can make the office more user friendly and approachable. I have 3 years experience as Deputy Treasurer, with this experience and other attributes, I strongly believe I can make a difference in the community.

Here are a few ideas I would do to make it a better place for the Davison County Residents:
1. Offer all services at all times – No appointments needed
2. Explore the option to have extended hours especially for residents that work out of town, live in Ethan or Mt. Vernon,  or just unable to make it between 8am and 5pm.
3. Have an Express Property Tax line during April and October – This will alleviate the lines and expedite the time customers have to wait in line.
4. Offer Tax Fund to all customers - which is make monthly payments towards property taxes instead of 2 large payments.
5. Keep the Passports!
6. Treat all customers with Respect and Professionalism!

I ask you to VOTE on JUNE 5th!
GO for Christie GUNKEL as your
NEW DAVISON COUNTY TREASURER!

Ethan Blood Drive
March 20th – American Legion

2:30 pm to 6:30 pm

Contact Don Garvis 227-4481 to set up an appointment
(walk-ins are also welcome)

If you are on the fence about donating here are some facts to think about:
  • 1 donation can help save the lives of up to 3 people.
  • Every 2 seconds someone in the US needs blood.
  • More than 38,000 blood donations are needed every day.
  • The average adult has about 10 pints of blood in his body. Roughly 1 pint is given during a donation.
  • Donating blood is a safe process. A sterile needle is used only once for each donor and then discarded.
  • The number one reason donors say they give blood is because they “want to help others.
  • Two most common reasons cited by people who don’t give blood are: “Never thought about it” and “I don’t like needles.” (The person receiving the blood probably doesn’t like needles anymore than you do, but is grateful that you braved it for them)
  • If you began donating blood at age 17 and donated every 56 days until you reached 76, you would have donated 48 gallons of blood, potentially helping save more than 1,000 lives!
